The primeminister Manandafy Rakotonirina arrested by Commander Charles Andrianasoavina

The dictatorship and the violation against human rights and constitutionnal rule in Madagascar, has reached a critical point on wednesday April 29th, 2009 at 07.30pm Madagascar time, the mutineer militaries, led by the Commander Charles Andrianasoavina, arrested the 70 years old legalist primeminister Manandafy Rakotonirina and the general secretary of the political party TEZA, Mrs. Ihanta Randriamandranto (known as the led-female leader of the legalist movement) at the Carlton hotel in Anosy (downtown of Antananarivo).

At 06.00pm Madagascar time, militaries surrounded the Carlton Hotel and did not allow anyone to enter or to leave the hotel. The foreign  clients (most of them are VIPs) paniced when they saw all of these threatening militaries with hood, machine guns and rocket launchers coming in the hotel. The Commander Charles Andrianasoavina warned the general manager of the hotel that if the hotel and its employees do not “cooperate” with them to find out Manandafy Rakotonirina and his accomplices, they will arrest everybody (even the clients??). He said to the Carlton General manager that in the event Manandafy Rakotonirina does not surrender, they will use their weapons.

The commander Charles Andrianasoavina forced a receptionist to give to him the key of Manandafy Rakotonirina’s room. He obliged this receptionist to come up with them and to open the room. Manandafy Rakotonirina was hiding himself in the toilets. The commander Charles Andrianasoavina caught and beat him.

Meanwhile, the other militaries searched in the other rooms and finally after one hour and half, could catch Mrs. Ihanta Randriamandranto, the colonel Théo and 03 bodyguards.During their operation, militaries threatened all the clients of the hotel.

Many witnesses (including journalists) have heard the Commander Charles Andrianasoavina saying to Manandafy Rakotonirina: “now, you’re mine…” The militaries left the hotel with their prisoners. They were in 4X4s.They immediately brought the prisoners in Ambohibao at the headquarter of the CNME (National Mixed Committee for Investigations).

At 08.30pm Madagascar time, the militaries went back to Carlton hotel to pick up a HAT member who was about to be lynched by legalist supporters who came to Anosy when they heard the news.

At 10.30pm Madagascar time, the militaries went back to the hotel again to force the safe in Manandafy’s room. Over there, they could find only MGA 300,000

Do the HAT, the army and Andry Rajoelina really believe that they have put an end to the legalist movement?

The HAT has been extremely aggressive these days: killings, trials, arrests, alleged “fabricated” stories… Nothing stops the HAT from its goal: staying in power regardless of the cost to economic and human life.

With the HAT multiplying its diplomatic efforts internationally while taking increasingly drastic measures against the opposition, one wonders what tomorrow would bring.

Antananarivo survives in fear, Madagascar is held hostage in the midst of daily terrorism and political instability, unable to voice its opinion, to live freely, to conduct business, and let alone to chose its leaders.

This is all very disturbing and upsetting but what strikes me most is that why is the lady not topless?

I could sense that HAT is a fervent supporter of gender inequality… This country is def going down!

    peace out,
